leafSetting up a drop-in meditation group in Gresford, Wrexham  was a leap of faith on my part.  I had no idea who would attend, if anyone, and was clueless about how to advertise the group. Although it was something I wanted to do I realised that I was getting in the way of myself-creating barriers to getting started.  September 2015 I went for it!  I hired the room and booked it for 6 consecutive months (excluding December) as a “lets just see how it goes” exercise.  And hey presto! The wonderful people of Wrexham came to learn and share their experiences.  The drop-in nature of the group (and the pay on the night element) gives you the flexibility to drop-in and drop-in as you need/want and the early-bird rate is a little incentive to maintaining a regular group practice.  Each month, the numbers attending varies, as I would expect with the drop-in nature of the group-however the warmth and generosity of the participants remains.

 

And so it is with great pleasure that I am able to share with you here that I have decided to continue with the drop-in meditation group throughout 2016.  We continue to meet on the 4th Wednesday of each month in the green room of Gresford Memorial Hall 7pm-9pm.  The format of 2 meditations with a refreshment break and discussion about practice remains although there is always flexibility each session depending on what individuals may request.  It is an opportunity to “unplug” and to nurture yourself in a friendly and supportive environment.  Some of us are experienced meditators- perhaps from different orientations-most of us are new to meditation.  It is non-religious and so is suitable to those of us with any faith or none…if you would like to give it a go you would be most welcome!

There is no need to pre-book unless you want to take advantage of the reduced fee (£7) or it is £9 on the night.  If you have a yoga mat, blanket and cushion please bring as my supplies are limited; and we can help you get into a comfortable meditation position using your own things as you would do at home.  Continuing your meditation practice outside of the drop-in group sessions is totally your choice.
