Once again, my musings take place in the Lake District walking along a canal and a river where I noticed the Eddies in the water giving the illusion of separateness to the two different water currents-almost as if they have edges. On the surface the water is travelling in different directions and yet underneath they are mingling and merging. In this photo hopefully you can see the smooth and rough water which illustrates my point. Very often we can feel alone, separate from others and yet like the Eddy we do not have distinct edges we are constantly connecting with others even if on a very distant level; for example we all breathe the same air. Just breathing connects us to all living beings on Earth! Oxygen is released by plants, we breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide, this carbon dioxide is taken in by plants and they release oxygen, and so this cycle continues. Not only does this cycle repeat but gas particles move and collide and so the oxygen we are breathing may have come from the rain forest, or been used by ocean algae, or was once used by a tree or a lion…it is endless. Take this idea one step further…we are part of the rain forest and the rain forest is part of us.
