I am proud to announce that I am now offering a new type of counselling delivery-WALKING TALKING THERAPY.
It does what it says on the tin, we walk and we talk and therefore the counselling session is taking place in the open air in green spaces. There is so much research out there which talks about the benefits of being outside on our mood and well-being. There is also much research about the positive impact on our health and well-being when we’re walking. Some pioneering therapists have therefore put being outside and walking together with counselling as a new practice, and their research is showing that this is helpful for some clients.
There are some obvious potential drawbacks: such as our wonderful Welsh weather and talking outside may cause challenges for confidentiality. I have taken these and other aspects into consideration, and discussed them at length with my clinical supervisor. Therefore if this is something you would like to consider I would be happy to talk to you about it, and am willing to discuss with you all the little extra things we need to think about before we embark on WALKING TALKING THERAPY together.
