Are we living in a depressed society? Asks Kim a Wrexham Counsellor.
The Health and Social Care Information Centre have shown that in 2012 the number of antidepressant prescriptions dispensed in England was over 50 million. This is the highest figure of antidepressant use recorded in England which has been raising year on year. Perhaps more people feel able to speak to their GP about their low mood? Maybe prescriptions are seen as the first line of action in depression? The NICE guidelines recommend talking therapies along-side or instead of antidepressants. There can be long waiting lists for counselling or psychotherapy in the NHS. If your mood is getting you down, counselling may be helpful. Give Kim a call and begin to get your life back.
