Depression and breastfeeding links examined by Kim, a Wrexham Counsellor

A study of 14,000 new mothers by Cambridge University found that the risk of depression is halved with successful breastfeeding in those that had planned to breastfeed. For those women who wanted to breastfeed and were unable to do so, their risk of post natal depression more than doubled. Being a new mother if tough and can feel very isolating, whether you choose or are able to breastfeed or not. If you, or someone you know is struggling with post-natal depression, counselling may help you explore your concerns in a safe and confidential environment.
