Someone much wiser than me said something along these lines, “When you change yourself you change your world”. This for me sums up the usefulness of counselling, that when we are able to view the situation differently (because we have learnt about ourselves for example) our relationship with the situation changes, even if the situation remains the same, and we feel so much better. We change through gaining self awareness and noticing patterns of behaviour or thoughts and how we feel about those.
